Normally, birthday of forth year. However, expiration could be birth date of 5th year of an original IL license. Driver keeps same number when renewing unless change of name, date of birth, and/or gender. A Safe Driver Renewal Program lets drivers with clean records renew by mail every 8 years. A safe driver renewal sticker is issued to drivers eligible for this program without having to appear at a local driver services facility to take the vision examination. |

| R-CDL A restricted CDL is available to drivers employed by farm retail outlets and suppliers, agri-chemical business, custom harvesters and livestock feeders. The R-CDL can be issued for no less than 90 days and no more than 180 days and is valid only within 150 miles of the employer's place of business. The R-CDL must be accompanied by an Illinois Class B drivers license and letter of employment verification. |

| Minimum financial responsibility limits are $20,000/40,000/15,000. Mandatory insurance laws apply to all vehicles operated within the state. Proof is required after an accident, "certain" violations, and routine traffic stops. Proof of financial responsibility |
| (SR-22 Certificate) is required for 3 years on: unsatisfied judgment suspensions related to an accident; and safety responsibility suspensions and revocations. Proof of financial responsibility is also required for one year as a condition of supervision for violations of the mandatory insurance law. |
| Illinois alcoholic provision limit is .08 percent and .01 percent of those under 21 years of age. Legal testing means include urine, blood and breath. Illinois has provisions within its laws for an implied-consent violation and an administrative suspension. |
| Accidents resulting in damage in excess of $500.00, injury, or death must be reported in-person or by phone to the nearest law enforcement agency. Within ten days, form "SR-1" must be filed with the Department of transportation, Accident Report Office, 3215 Executive Park Drive, Springfield 62766. The "SR-1" form is for both personal and commercial vehicles. A box on the form is checked for "driving in the course of employment." |
| Point Accumulation: If 3 or more point assessed violations are committed within a 12 month period, or 2 or more point assessed violations are committed by a driver under the age of 21 within a 24 month period, the driver's record is reviewed for possible suspension or revocation. If the driver's record shows no more prior suspensions or revocation in the previous seven year period. the following tables are used to determine the length of the suspension or whether revocation is to be entered. |
